Dress of the week February 26th!

Good  morning  Ladies ! It is  the  last  weekend of  February   and  I am looking forward  to  see  if  March can give us  more  hints of  spring , or  will it   be  a  repeat of February   with   winter weather!   It is   3f  or  minus  16c  this  morning.  The  sun is  trying  to   come up. 

             

     

As  I  signed  off on  Saturday last  week  we  were  about to  go on our  coffee  date. We   got  away  for a  while  and it  was  nice just  us, husband  and  wife ❤

We  got  back  and  had a  pretty  quiet   evening  with a little  housework  thrown in.   On Sunday  we  went to  the  usual  late morning  church , afterwards  we   went  for  the  coffee  and  donuts .  They   were  so good  as  always!   When  we  came  back  we  picked up a  ping pong or  table tennis table ! It  was  being  sold  for $50   and  was  a bargain. we  had to  put it on  folding   tables  but it works  for now in our unfinished  basement.Please  excuse  the  mess !!!   This  was  the  first  time I played  the  game in many  years,  since I was  in  school ! It will be  good  for  the  kids  to  get used to it.   It folds up really nice.   Also  I took  my   3    boys  and  2 of  their  friends  bowling  as well.  I sat it out  and  enjoyed  watching  them. 

Monday  was  Presidents  day  here  and  the  kids  were  off  , everyone  else  had  the  day off  but I had to work. Tuesday  was  the  start of  our  big  3  day snowfall ! We all got to work and  school , then in the  afternoon  the  snow  came !  The forecast was  so bad  the  school  called  snow  days  for Wednesday  and  Thursday. Wednesday morning  we  woe to  about  8 inches on the  ground.   Our  Church called off all the  ash Wednesday masses/ services  and the anointing of ashes on the  forehead.  Later  Wednesday it  got  worse with  drifting  snow  due to the  winds. It kept  snowing on Thursday until noon  and  then it  was  all done ! Here  are  some  photos.

We  were  all back  on Friday It  went  by    quickly. Friday  was a  nice    relaxing night  at  home.   Yesterday I  had  some  errands  to  do  and  catch up on   housework( it  never ends!)   We will be going to Church in a  few hours.

Dress of the week May 1st!

Good morning Ladies and welcome to the first day of May!! It is the feast day of St. Joseph the worker. I am hoping for a really spring like and sunny May after a pretty wet April which was great for the growth of all the pretty flowers ! Last weekend we even had snow flurries !

Last  Saturday   our  daughter  had   volleyball   again  I did  not  go  with  her   this   time ,   again . They   left  at  7am  and  were  gone  nearly 12  hours. They  played   6  games   and   placed   2nd in the   tournament!  They  went  out  to  eat on  the   way  home   a s  a   special  treat!   I  went   with our  son  to  first  holy communion  rehearsal  in  the   morning.  He  will  receive  the   sacrament   tomorrow .  It will  be   so  nice   watching  all the   boys  in their   suits  and  the   girls  in their  white   communion  dresses!!   Later   on  Saturday  the boys   played  with  their   friends  Easton   and  Amelia. Their  parents  came  over   for  a   bonfire   after  dark as  they  were   picking  the   kids  up.  We  had a   little  adult  playdate  too, why  not!!  

On Sunday we went to Church for the first time in person since covid came in. It was nice to get back after all this time. All the distancing protocols were adhered to and there were no issues. Soon after church we went on a 90 minute drive to see the kids Great Grandpa at a local restaurant to him. It was the first time he was able to get out of his assisted living house also since covid. The last time we got to see him was October for his wife’s funeral. My Father-in-law and his sister had been able to see him though. We are looking forward to seeing him more !!

On Monday our  8year old  woke up at  4am really distressed , having  a  barky  cough  and  throwing up a  little . I  took  him to the  ER immediately . On the  way  there  he  started to feel a  bit  better.  They diagnosed  him  with croup  and  gave  him  a steroid  injection to fight it.  He  was  better later in the  day . 

 On Tuesday  Baseball  and   softball   was   cancelled  due to  rain .  Wednesday  was a   much  better  day.  I  was   able  to  get  my covid   shot , it  went   smooth  and  no   side   effects!   Thursday  there   was    softball  and   baseball . Our  son played in  his   first   scrimmage  and  got  2    hits!

congratulations  to my  brother-in-law  and   his   wife on the   birth of  their   first   child  , a  healthy baby boy born last  Saturday night   called  Stanley!! We  are   excited to meet   him  and  are likely  to do  so   at  a family  get  together today! They are  75% certain they  will  be able to attend it!!  But  with a  newborn there  will not  be   any pressure on them . 

Also  a  shoutout to my  blogging  friend  Steph and Dan who are  expecting  twins in November!!

Dress of the week February 27th

Good morning Ladies from a really different Minnesota! This week the temps are climbing above freezing and there is thawing taking place. It feels really nice in the sun . But I know that it can all go back to the cold pretty fast so I will enjoy it while I can.

Last   weekend  was  pretty   relaxing  for  the   most   part. We didn’t have a  lot   planned which I  was   glad  of. there   were   household  chores ( of  course!)  but   we didn’t  get  into   a whole  lot  of  trouble! We  did  go  see  the  model  house  one  more  time  for  the  new  one  we  are  building  to get  ideas  and  ask   questions  during the   building  process. On Monday  we are  going  to  meet  the  designer  , where  we  will pick out  siding, shingles, doors, and  kitchen cabinets, exciting! 

On Tuesday  morning  I  got   a  sad  text  from  both my  sisters.   The  Mom  of  my   best   friend  from  childhood passed  away in her  sleep overnight. She  was   a  lovely  Lady who also  was always   ready for  visitors  to  drop in and  made  you feel  so  welcome. She  also had  a  great  faith in God, and is  now  with   him after  her  earthly  journey has   ended.  I was   grateful to see  her  funeral on  webcam Thursday morning. 

Also on  Tuesday on  a more  light  hearted   note  our  Keurig  coffee  maker   gave  up the  fight  after  7 or  8  years .   We  have a  new  one  ordered  and it  will arrive  Monday.  Looks  like  I will be going out  for   coffee  today again!! I don’t  do it often  so I think it is  ok!! 

Today my  in-laws  are  coming to visit , we are  going to look  at  ideas  for living  room  spaces and  how  to  furnish them. Otherwise  we  do not  have a  lot  planned.

Dress of the week December 8th

Good morning Ladies !  I am a  day late writing this week , I got a  little  busy yesterday  with the kids  and household stuff. Last Sunday after Church we  surprised the kids  by telling  them we were going to Great wolf Lodge  Waterpark for the  day and  staying overnight in the hotel! They were  very excited  , they had Monday off school, an extension of the Thanksgiving weekend.  We packed up and  arrived  there at 3 pm, the room  wasn’t ready until 4pm  but they wanted to go in the park so badly they changed in the locker rooms . I waited until we got to the room to get into my swimsuit though.

We swam , tubed , slid, paddled for an hour and  a half then went to Perkins  for dinner .  Then it was back until 9pm when the  waterpark  closes. We came back to the room cleaned up watched some tv then eventually sleep ! The room had two sets of bunkbeds and a queen for us.  We used the park again the next morning after  having  breakfast  and  had to then check out by 11am. There was  a lot of fun had! Tuesday was back to normal for all . The week went by quickly to Friday . We are having a quiet weekend  , the kids had some playdates Friday and Saturday , Our Daughter had a  sleepover Friday night.

Today after Church  our monthly Pancake breakfast takes place. It is also the Feast of the Immaculate Conception  of Mary .

Dress of the week July 14th

Good  morning  to  you  all!!  It  is  a   beautiful  morning here  in  the  low  80s  ,  better  than   90s during  the week  with  humidity  thrown  in  too. Last  weekend our  daughter  was  playing  softball  and  they  had  mixed  fortunes ,  they  won  two  and  lost two.  If  you  lose  two  you  are  out  of the  tournament  ,  so they  just  played  one  game  on  Sunday  morning. The  two older  boys  went  to  their  Grandparents  camper  from  friday  to  Sunday  as  a  surprise! Their  camper  is  a  5th wheel that  you  pull  behind  a  truck , it is very  nice , spacious  and  very   new .  A  lot  of  Minnesotans  have  cabins  on  the  many  lakes throughout  the  state ,  but  there  is  a  lot  of  maintenance  having  one , so  my  in-laws prefer  to  go  to  a  camper  park  rather  than  own  a  cabin.  We  are  not  at  that  stage to  own  either  yet !  We  are  going  to  the  in-laws  today  too,  their  town  festival  is  taking  place   and  finishes  off  with  a  parade which  the  kids  enjoy  as  the  marchers  throw  out  candy  as  they go  past!
