Good afternoon Ladies ! I hope you are doing well on this Sunday . We are coming to the end of a 4 day weekend after celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday. I got a little time to sit down and write my post !
As I left you last week we were getting ready to see the orthopedic doctor in relation to our sons fractured leg from the previous Tuesday. We both went to the appointment on Tuesday morning and they took a look at the leg. They cut off the splint (soft cast) and checked things out. Then the doctor figured he needed a hard cast . So he was able to pick out the color and went with red. It was interesting watching the technician putting it on . The mesh wraps around easily and then it hardens pretty fast. We set up a new appointment for December 7th. we were also able to get a wheelchair that day. We use it when needed around the house. But it is so nice to have when we leave! He is getting better at getting around himself , and will go back to school Tuesday.
On Wednesday evening we started getting things ready for the arrival of our guests on Thursday. We got the extra tables and chairs set up and had a nice evening just the 6 of us. On thanksgiving morning My Mother and father in law arrived first with their side dish , then a little later my brothers-in -law and their families showed up . In all there were 18 of us and we had a lovely family day of food drink and laughter. We had 5 people stay over in total( Mom and Dad -in- law and Brother in law his wife and baby son) The baby’s Mom unfortunately woke up with earache and after getting checked had an internal and external ear infection. In the afternoon we made a bunch of cookies , a black Friday tradition!
On Saturday we had breakfast at a new restaurant in the morning , and did a bunch of work around the house and got some inflatables and Christmas lights installed.

This morning we went to church for the first Sunday of Advent , a time to prepare us for the birth of Jesus .

Good morning Ladies ! I started that first previous sentence on Saturday morning and that is as far as I got ! It is now Monday. last Saturday (13th) I had just watched the funeral online of my Uncle who passed to eternal life. I was able to compose myself and after that got busy with a bunch of chores and also we worked on the basement where we are building a new bedroom and bathroom for our daughter. it is at the framing stage and now needs plumbing electrical and heat /cool added . In the evening we had friends come over and had a nice evening with them. On Sunday after church there was a pancake breakfast and that is a popular event . In the afternoon I printed up a photo of my Uncle who passed , put it in a frame and put it on the remembrance table at our church as November is the month of the holy souls where we pray for those departed from this life and those in purgatory who need our prayers.
Monday and Tuesday started off normal then at 9.30 am I got a call from the school that our youngest had a playground accident and had swelling on his leg. I left work and went to pick him up , he was in a wheelchair in a bit of discomfort. The nurse and I got him loaded up and I took him to Childrens hospital in St. Paul. We waited a while, He was feeling ok after a while with his leg up in a chair. We then got x rays done and the diagnosis when we seen the doctor was that it was a shinbone fracture. So they commenced to putting a splint in which is a heavy duty bandage put together in 4 parts. We wheeled him to the car and got ready for our new life experience! He did really well. I had enquired about temporary wheelchairs for our son but they did not know about any.
We got him home and there was a lot of carrying needed, he is too young for crutches. He had a tough time falling asleep the first night even with the medication he was taking. he did drop off though. The next day I was busy with him , and also calling our primary doctor, insurance company and anyone else we could to find a chair for him. It was a bit of a runaround and we eventually had to order a chair online , it has not shipped as yet. He has spent his days sitting on our new couch with footrest , and generally giving us orders! He needs help to use the bathroom, but is a trooper. Saturday was a day of keeping busy, getting ready for thanksgiving and minding our patient. He is going to see the specialist tomorrow so we will see what that entails going forward.

Good morning Ladies, I come to you this morning with a hole in my heart . On Tuesday of this week I got a call from my sister that my dear uncle Peter had passed away into eternal life. He was diagnosed with dementia earlier in the year and then from July started going downhill quickly . He was staying at home until 6 weeks ago and then had to go into a nursing home. It was tough on the family, his wife and 3 kids , as towards the end he did not know them. At the weekend they gave him Morphine and he was administered the last rites as is custom in our Church to prepare us for the afterlife with God. He was a man of deep faith, an inspiration to all who knew him . He would do anything for you if you were in need . He was a great handyman and could do anything in the home from plumbing to electrical carpentry. He also loved working on cars. May he rest in peace , in the presence of God.
last Sunday was a relaxing day . After working pretty hard on Saturday we all took it easy. Our son had a friend stay over after celebrating his birthday the night before by going bowling. They were awake late but its ok once in a while ! We watched some football also. Monday was back to routine . Tuesday towards the end of the work day I got the sad news of my Uncle passing. I had to go to a dental appointment at 6pm that evening still. My dental hygenist Claudia was very compassionate on hearing my sad news. We had a good chat as she did her work( well you can guess she did most of the talking and it was lovely hearing her stories about loved ones she lost) On Wednesday our youngest got new glasses as his prescription changed , for the better I am happy to say. He has cool blue and yellow frames! The kids also had church class that night.
Thursday night I was able to relax and reflect on things. Sometimes the tears would flow out of nowhere when I would think about my Uncle. I am an emotional person at the best of times, shedding tears at a sad movie so you can imagine me when a loved one passes! Friday morning we got our first snow ! It started to form on the grass and roofs but as the day went on it dissappeared. Last night we went out to eat at a local restaurant. This morning I was able to watch the funeral on live stream as I was not able to attend. It was a beautiful Mass of sending to eternal life.

Good morning Ladies and happy November to you ! The year is going by so fast and now that halloween has passed the next big one for me is Christmas ! But I am looking forward to Thanksgiving coming as we are hosting it this year in our new home. The weather has been beautiful for early November in Minnesota . The more fall i can get the better !
Last Saturday we went to an Orchard to meet extended family (18 0f us !) for annual photos. Ever since they were young, my Mother-in-law has been getting pictures of all the Grandkids on this one bench in the orchard. This year we arrived and the bench is gone !! They did some rearranging there but we found another pretty spot to take the pics and it all went well. The apple picking was finished for the season but you could go into their shop for some and other treats. It was not a cold day but as soon as I got into the shop I knew i needed a hot apple cider ! It did not dissapoint and was so good. After the orchard we went to a kid friendly winery about 10 minutes away. It had outdoor seating and the day was nice to sit out in. They also had a mobile brick oven Pizza truck on site to tide us over before dinner. The kids were able to play board games or run in the big field attached and we were able to keep an eye on them. There were soft drinks for the kids , and most adults sampled their wines which were good to sit and chat with. We went to a nice new restaurant a few miles away for dinner . They had pull tabs there where u need to match 3 symbols. My Sister-in -law won $100 ! We discussed Thanksgiving plans and then parted to go our seperate ways after a nice day.

Sunday was a nice quiet day . We did not do anything too strenuous! Then it was back to work and school for us all for another week. On Friday our oldest son turned 12!! I still cannot believe it ! We went out to a new restaurant for dinner. On Saturday morning (Yesterday)we took delivery of a new couch ! We splurged a bit . Then we went and got some lumber for our basement project ! We are making a bedroom and bathroom down there to ad d more space and give our daughter her bedroom. We also did yardwork cleaning up leaves. Then in the evening there was bowling for our son along with friends to celebrate his birthday. Quite a day !!
