Dress of the week September 26th !

Good  morning  Ladies !  I am  coming  a   day  late  as  I  didnt  get  to  write   yesterday   morning. The  weather   has  turned   cooler  as  you  would   expect  for  this time of  year . Some   mornings  are  down to  the  low   40s    but  the   days   warm up  afterwards.   We  had 2   rain  days   which is  nice for  our  newly seeded   grass. 

Last   Saturday   was   spent  doing   chores  around  the   house  that   were in   need of   getting  done. We  got a  bunch of  old  pallets  cut up  for  firewood  to  use  in our   backyard  pit.  We also  offered  some to our  neighbors   2   doors  down  who  we  met  for  the  first  time,  Eric  and  Wendy  with their  2   boys. They took  some   and  had   a   fire  that  night!  Then  there  was  general  house   cleaning. on  Sunday  after  Church  they  had   coffee  and   donuts  which are  always  a  nice   treat! In the  afternoon   we   had   friends  come over  and  their  kids   went  swimming  in our  pool  along  with ours  for the  last  swim of  the   season ! Another  sign of the   changeover to fall ! 

It  was    back to   school  On Monday  for  the   kids ,  and work for the  adults  !    On  Wednesday  evening  I  attended a   church  class meeting  for  parents.   This  year  they  want  the  parents  to  get  involved in   the  kids  classes   and   helping  them  deepen  their  faith  along  with us parents,  so we  can continue  to  an  extent   where   they   leave  off  from. It  will be  an  exciting  development!

Early  Yesterday  morning  I  set  an  alarm to  see  my  beautiful  Niece  Grace   make  her  first holy  communion   via  live  streaming  video.  It  was a   lovely  ceremony ,  It got   delayed   from  May  due  to  covid    but  they  had  a   nice   day  for it  and  had a   family  celebration  later  back  at   their  house .  I  was  able  to  chat  with   Grace  and  her  parents  afterwards, the   power of online video  chatting !  Then  at  11am  our  new  washer  and  dryer   arrived  !!  The ones  that  were   here   were  not  able to  perform  well  enough  for a   family  of   6   so  we  did  have to invest in  new .   So far   so  good !  In the  evening  we   went to  a  local  park  by   a lake  where  they  had  done improvements  to   the  facilities.  It was  a grand opening  day event  with  games   music  and  ice  cream ! 

  We   came   home  and  had a   little   bonfire .   Today  after   church   they  are  having  the yearly picnic, I will be  helping  with  clean up .

Dress of the week September 18th!

Good morning Ladies ! We are over halfway through September and we are still experiencing warmer than usual temperatures for this month. As long as it stretches fall into our long winter I will be ok with it. I am looking forward to getting out to some orchard for our annual picking , and just being out in nature in comfortable temperatures will be a great time for all.

Last  Saturday morning I watched an  event  I  always  did  growing  up ,  the  All  Ireland    football  ,  It  is their   version of  the  superbowl. I  was  hoping  Mayo  would   win it  as  they  had  been in  the   final  for 6   times  in the  past   decade   but  had  not  won  any.  As  it   turns out  they  came  up short   again , I  feel  so  bad   for  them,  but   congrats  to  Tyrone.  A  friend   came over  and  watched   with  me  so that was   fun.

   In  the  afternoon   we  went to  see our  daughters   volleyball  tournament,  they  tried  hard   but  did  not  get   the   wins  they  wanted  to  advance.  Its  all  about  trying   again  , they  will get  there! My  in-laws  also  came  for  the   volleyball  and   before  they  left in the   evening   we   went for  pizza.    On  Sunday  we   went  to  Church ,  and   after   had a   pretty  relaxing   day.   The  Monday  to  Friday   was  a  pretty  typical  week of school,  work   and  just  all the  things   we  do  every  week !  There  were   storms  Thursday  night and  some  places   had   power  outages. Funny  thing is our  middle  school  had  a  power  outage on Friday  morning after  the  storms and  our  son  had  to  come  home  early,  there  were  no  tears   though,  none ! 

Today  we  are   going  to  do   some  organizing in our   storage  room   and  pack  away  some  items   still in   boxes   after  our  move.  It is  a process !   I  also  have  to  take  my  phone in   as  yesterday  a  crack   appeared  across  the   screen  for  no  apparent   reason.

Dress of the week September 11th.

Good morning Ladies . Today is a poignant day here in the states, the anniversary of 9/11 . It was a day where thousands of innocent souls went to work or flew on a plane but did not come home. I was living in New York at that time and was working 2 miles north of the twin towers that day. Before it happened I heard the hum of a low flying plane and thought it was really loud or low flying and then moved on. A few minutes later someone got a call that a plane had crashed into one of the towers. The rest sadly will go down in history. All we can do is pray for those who died and their families .

Last Saturday we tackled some organizing of the garage. We still had boxes there since we moved in late June and I am glad to say we made enough room so we can get our other car into it! In the evening our friends Brandon Josette and Maddi came over for dinner . The kids love having Maddi over and she likes coming also being an only child. We had a fire in the backyard until the bugs started to get bad. Then the adults watched a movie on netflix, Adrift based on a true story . Do you like truelife movies? On Sunday morning we went to Church and then in the afternoon the kids had friends come over for swimming. One of them stayed for a sleepover. The swimming days are coming to an end very soon!

On  Labor  day  we   did  a   bit  more  organizing    and  I also  got  to  watch the  solheim  cup, the  Ladies   golf  tournament   between  Europe  and  the  USA . I  was   delighted  to see  an  Irish young  lady  Leona  Maguire  star  in the  tournament !   Tuesday  was   back to  school  for  the  kids   after  the  long   weekend. the  week   went  pretty  fast with our  daughter   playing  volleyball  a  few   evenings   after   school.   Today  she   has  a  tournament  to play in  as  well, whew so  much playing,  better   her  than  me!!  

My  in-laws  are   coming  later   and   staying over  so the  kids  will be    delighted  with  that!   They will also  watch  some of the  tournament.  There is  also  another  sports  event  I  have   an  interest in, The  All Ireland mens  football  final   where  Mayo  will play  Tyrone in the  final. It  starts  at  11 am  my  time  today.  I grew up   with the  game , and  it  is  the superbowl   comparisson  for  Irish people!

Dress of the week September 4th !!

 Good  morning  Ladies  and  welcome  to  September !!  August  just  went  by  so  fast  I  felt .  Last  Saturday  with  the  help of all  6 of  us   we  did  some  house  cleaning. It is  amazing  how  many  hands  make  light  work   At  2pm  after a  little  packing  we left  to  stay  at a   hotel  2 hours 30  minutes  away.  As I said  last  week   we  were  travelling for our  nephews baptism. 

As  we  were   driving  on  interstate  94  we  went  through  many  downpours  and  nearly  had  to  pull  over  as   visibility  was  very  low  and  the  wipers   were   on highest  speed!   But  the showers   dissapated    we  were  able  to  arrive  at  the  hotel in   sunshine .  We  arrived  at  5.30 pm  and  the  kids  of  course  went  to  the  pool  right  away! It was a  nice  pool  and  it  was  not  too  busy.   They   swam  for  over  an  hour  and   then  went  across  the   parking  lot to AJ’s   for   dinner. It  was   a  nice  place  and  the  food  was  good.   After   dinner  the  boys  went  back to the  pool     before bed  for  an  hour.   The   hotel  was   pet  friendly and it  was  the  first  time   we  brought  our  dog  Tucker to a  hotel !  He  did  really  well  but  felt  he  had  to  protect  us by  barking  a  little  when  seeing  strangers!   It  was  cute  really. 

We  were  up  early  on Sunday  morning  as the  baptism  was  at  8:30 am  and  was  also  a  25  minute  drive  from  the  hotel! WE  got  breakfast  ,  packed   got  dressed  up   and  were  ready to  leave  just  before  8am.  On our  way  we  went to  this  scenic  overlook   at  the  nearby lake

The  baptism  took place  during  the  church’s  morning  service  and  it  was a  beautiful   event. He  did  very  well and  there  were  no  tears  as  the water  of  Baptism  was  poured over  his  head!  They  used  a  family   gown  as  his  outfit.  Afterwards   we  went  back to  their  house  and  had   lunch  and conversation. We  did  not  stay too long  after  as  we  wanted  to  get  back a  little  early for  the next day’s event : SCHOOL! 

Our  daughter  started  High  school (yikes!!)  and  is  settling  in  well.   After  school   there  has  been a  lot of  volleyball games  both home  and  travel.  Our  oldest son  started  middle  school and  is  meeting  new  friends  as  well as  the  kids  he  was  with  at  elementary  school.   Our  two youngest  started  in  a  new   elementary  school   and  were  made  welcome  by  everyone ! We  have  a  week  done  now and I am  happy it has  all gone so well. 

  This  weekend  being  labor  day  ,  the  kids  will be off Monday.  We are  staying  home  with  friends coming over today  and  on  Monday.  I am   happy to  have  a   pretty  relaxing  weekend !   The  weather  is  cloudy  today  with  sunshine  promised  tomorrow.
