Dress of the week August 28th !

Good  morning  Ladies! It  is  a dry  start  to Saturday   after  a  week  of  heavy   rain   in   4  days  since  last  weekend. We  are  promised  more  this  weekend .I  will take  it  as  it  has  been  a dry  summer  up until  now.  It is  also  welcome  for the  farmers  in  our  area   as   they  grow  their  crops.

Last Saturday we got a bunch of yardwork done. Our friend Brandon borrowed a friends tractor to disperse the pile of dirt created from putting our pool in. He came over early and we made breakfast before starting. He is really good on the tractor and after an hour had most of the pile knocked down and spread through the yard in the low spots . We had to take out the clumps and big stones by hand. After it was spread we put down grass seed and it is starting to grow now .

On Sunday we went to Church and after lunch spent a relaxing day at home. I went into the pool for the first time since it was put in, before this I had watched the kids only but I braved the cold water and had a nice time in it !!! The week was pretty typical , but the last week off for the kids, they go back to school on Monday. There were some last minute events, school photos , and a refresher for our new middle schooler getting used to his new surroundings , I went with him yesterday to an empty school , it was nice to walk around and see where his rooms are. Our daughter had a volleyball game Friday and they unfortunately lost, cant win them all!!

A  few weeks  ago  we  were  both  asked  to  be  Godparents  to our  nephew  Stanley  and we  accepted  of  course !  So  tomorrow  at  8:30 am  he  is  being  baptized ,  being made  a  child of  God’s  Kingdom.  We   have  to  travel  3  hours  so   we  are  leaving  later  today   and  staying  in a hotel overnight .   It  has a  pool  so it has  the  kids  excited.  Afterwards  we  will go  back to  his  parents  house  for  lunch.  It  will be  a great  day  for  the   family.

Dress of the week August 21st!

Good  morning  Ladies ! I  hope  you  are  all  doing  well  as  we  move  quickly  towards    the  end  part  of  August.  The   summer  has  gone  so  fast   and  the   kids  start   school  a  week  from  Monday!  The  weather  has    been  pretty   humid   early in the  week  but   has  cooled  of  nicely  heading into the  weekend. summer flower

Last  Saturday   we   did  some  landscaping  work in  our  backyard .  It  was  unplanned   but  due to  having a  pile of  dirt  from the dig  out  for  our  new  pool  we  wanted to  fill in  some  areas that  were  low in our  yard. We  worked  together to fill  wheelbarrows,  the  kids  helped  also.  After  all  we   did  we   still  have a  lot  so our  friend  Brandon is  going to  come over  today with a  front load   tractor  and  spread the  rest of  the  dirt  for us, thank you Brandon!!  On  Sunday  we  went to Church   and  enjoyed  coffee  and   donuts  afterwards.   The  kids  had   friends  come   visit and  their  Mom  and  I had a  nice  chat  for a  while as  they   swam .  One of  them  had a  sleepover.

The week   did   go in  fast   with  kid  activities  and  some   more  playdates .  The  new   pool is  proving popular with  them !  Thursday  was a  big  day.  Our oldest son  had  orientation for  middle  school , still hard to  believe  for me !  He  said  it   went  well  and  got the  bus  there  and  back.  Then  the  younger  kids got  to  meet  their new   teachers in  elementary  school. They  are  in a  new  school  since  our  move but i  think  they  will  adapt  well.   The  teachers  were  nice  and  welcoming  to  them!  On  Friday  our  daughter  got picked for  the  9th  grade volleyball team  and  was  excited  by  that.  She is a  high  schooler  now , where  has  the  time  gone ??

On  Friday   night  our  friends  Brian , Crystal  and  their  kids  came over  for  game   night. It  was a fun  time  we  played  name  5   where   as it  suggests  you have  to  name  5 of  something, one  question  was  name  5 bands that  begin  with   B .  Can you  answer it ?  It  was  fun  and  stressful all at  the  same  time  as  you  are  on  teams of  2  or   more.  We also played   giant spoons  a  fast  moving  game  played  with a  deck of  cards  when one  person  gets  4 of a  kind   they inconspicuously  grab a spoon  from the  table  and  wait to see  how long it  takes for others to  notice . then everyone grabs but  there is one less  spoon  than  competitors  and if you  don’t  get  a  spoon  you  get an S.  When you  are  last  grabbing  5  times  you are out!  It  is  so  fun!

I wanted to get my post published early as Brandon is coming over at 8am for breakfast . Got to feed the workers!

Dress of the week August 14th !

Good Morning Ladies! It is a beautiful sunny Saturday morning here in Minnesota with a temperature of 54 degrees! After such a hot spell this is a welcome break. I do like the cooler weather! We had a little rain during the week which was needed.

Last Saturday our daughter had softball nearly the whole day, Their last game ended at 10 pm. They won some and lost some in the tournament which led to the late game. I did get a little alone time also on Saturday for part of the day which is cherished from time to time ! On Sunday there was an 8am game , we left house at 6am as it was an hour away and they were meeting at 7.15 as a team prep. They did well but lost that game and it ended their tournament, they finished 5th out of 20 teams, well done to all the girls!

After the softball we drove 2 hrs for our nephews baby shower , it was a shower for all not just the ladies this time ! And due to covid it was held 2 months after he was born so he was the guest of honor! It was held at his house and was a fun few hours . On Monday the young boys had swimming lessons, they are really progressing well at them!

On Tuesday we went to our local county fair! It runs from Monday to Sunday and is a lot of fun! We got some good fair food and the kids had a lovely time on all the rides . We met a lot of friends also . On Wednesday ground was broke on our new above ground swimming pool ! A company came in and moved the dirt to level it and installed the frame. It can be left up all year round. By 7pm they were finished installing it and all we had to do was fill it. So over the next 2 days we got it to the level needed. It is still a little cold to go in for most people but not for our boys they braved the cold Yesterday , brrrr !!

Our old  neighbors  Neena  and  Chris  and  their  2  girls  came over on Wednesday evening for Pizza  also  and  have a   fun  time  with our  kids . It  was a  busy  day  here!    On Thursday  we  got  a  new  dishwasher  put in  as  the  original  one  to the  house  was  on its  last  legs .  The   new  one  is  soo  much  better!   On   Friday evening  we   went  back to the   fair !  We   just    had  some  food  and  walked  around ,  no  rides  this  time!   It  was  really   busy   being  the   weekend.  Early  Saturday  we    did   some  yardwork    as  we  have a  pile of  dirt to  deal  with  after  the  pool install. We  will use it to  fill in low   spots .

Dress of the week August 7th!

Good Morning Ladies! As I write this post early Saturday morning it is thundering and Lightening outside. Also heavy rain as you can imagine, but it is so needed here as we have had a very dry summer. Most lawns are a little burned but we have been trying to green ours up a little when we can water them. This past week has been in the mid to high 80s so maybe the storm will calm things down a bit!

Last   weekend on Saturday  we  hosted  a lovely   family  gathering . The head of  the family  tree  here   turned  93 !  He  is  in  an assisted   living  facility  2  hours  from   us  and  was   delighted  to  get  out . There   were 17   of us  in  total, one had  to  work , but it  was  nice to  see  our youngest   member  Baby Stanley make the  trip with his  parents! We  had a  nice   meal   and   some  yummy   cupcakes   afterwards.  It  was   so  much  easier  to host  in our  new   house with a  bit  more   space.

On Sunday  there  was   Church   and   a  relaxing  day   afterwards. Our   younger   boys   had   swim  lessons  in the   mornings   during   the   week.   They love  water   and it is  a  win  win  as  we   do  not  have a  pool   at the  moment   since  moving. We  are   working  on  getting a   new  one. The  kids   had  a   few   friend   playdates  also.  Yesterday our  daughter  was   playing in  nationals  for   softball in a  weekend  long   tournament.  They  played  2  games  yesterday  and  at  5pm  all the  teams  had  a  parade ! Our   girls  dressed  in  a hawaiian theme!  There  are  more  games  Today  and depending on  results   into  Sunday.
