Dress of the week May 29th !

Good morning Ladies !! How are you ? If your in the UK and United states you will be enjoying a nice long weekend. It is a lovely sunny day here . We are at my in-laws house for the weekend. So much has happened since my last post May 15th!

On  May  16th we  looked  at  an  existing  home about  4  minutes  drive  from  us .   It was a  beautiful  home built  in  2007  .  It  has   4   bedrooms  with the  option  of  adding  another.  It  is  spacious  and a  lovely  layout.  So  we  put in  an  offer on  the   house  and  2  days  later   we   were  accepted  !!!!    We  are  officially  moving.  We   did love  the  house style  that  was  going  to  be  built   blocks  away  from  us , but  the   builder  came  back  and  said  it   would be an extra  $25000  dollars  to  build  based on  material  costs. We  declined and  are  happy   to  move  forward  with  our  new   pre built  home.   One of  the  conditions  of  our  offer  being  accepted was  that our  house  would  be  put on the  market  within 10    days  ( yesterday  Friday!)   We  had  a  lot of  work to  do to  get it ready  for   showings! There  was    a   bunch of  stuff  moved to  storage  lockers  a  mile  away. We  had  extra   help  Thank God! So  every  evening  we  had   projects to  complete.   There  was  a  lot of  painting , cleaning  decluttering  to do. Since  Sunday we  had  been up  late, some days  until 2am!!  We  got  new  carpets in   throughout .  They  look   great!  So   Thursday  night  we  stayed  up late (2am again !)   and  had  it  ready   to  go on market   on  Friday  morning!  As    I  write some  people  have  made  offers  which is  exciting.   I  will have   updates   next  week!   Some  pics  below of our house listing   ,  I  can hardly believe its ours !

 

We  are  staying  here until  Sunday  as  there is  house  showings  today  and  early  tomorrow. Today  we  finally  get  to  meet  our  newest  family  member our  nephew Stanley!  WE  drive  90  minutes  from  here so it   will be  a  precious  moment  seeing  him  and  his  parents!   It  will be  a  relaxing  weekend after a   busy  week!

Dress of the week May 15th

Good  morning  Ladies!!    How   has  your  week  been ?  We   have  had  some  lovely  spring  weather  this  week.  There   was  sunshine  everyday except  for  yesterday   where  it   was   overcast  and rainy,  but  we  need  them  days  also! 

On Saturday early there was a bunch of chores that I attended to at home. Then in the afternoon we started a back burner project , ceiling painting !! There was prep to do before any paint was applied , the walls had to be protected with plastic and the floor somewhat. We are getting new carpet on the floors so they don’t need too much covering. We used a roller with a long handle , it is harder than I thought painting over your head ! We got one room completed and are going to tackle more today. Wish me luck!

For   early Mothers  day   there  was   breakfast  in  bed  and a  new  sterling  silver heart  chain  gifted!!   Then  we  went to  church  for  10:30  am , it is  good to  be  back in  person!  In the  afternoon  we   surprised  the  kids  with  a  waterpark  stay  Sunday into  Monday!  We   found a discounted   coupon for  a  family of  6    and  jumped at  the   chance!  It is  the   great wolf  lodge  waterpark, we  have  been  there   a  few  times   previously.  They  were   so  excited   and  there  was   some  hurried   packing  done !  When we  got  there it   was  a  relaxed atmosphere  with  a  smaller  capacity of  people.   We   ordered  pizza  for    dinner  and  they slept  soundly  that  night!   On  Monday  morning  they  did   a  little  more  swimming,  tubing,  watersliding    before  it  was   time  to  check out . 

 

 

Tuesday  was   back to   normal   With  school,  and  evening  sports.   The  younger  kids   had  pajama  day  at  school  Wednesday  which  was  fun ! 

 

New house  update :  I told  you  were  are  due  to  move into a  new  house in August, September. Last  week we  got  the  permit  approved .   Then on  Monday  evening  we  received  information  that  the   builder is  backing out of  the  contract  to  build. Long  story   short is  they  cannot  afford  to  build  the  house   at  the  agreed  price  we  reached  a  few  months  back.  The   building  trade costs are  at an  all time  high,  300% higher  than  a  year  ago   due  to   the  pandemic.   There   were  a  range of  emotions  when  we  got  the  news ( as you  can imagine !)   But  we  are getting  used to  the  fact  that  we  most  likely will not  be  building  now.   The only  chance  we  have  is  when  they  come  back  with a  revised  price , and  we  will see if its worth  it to pay  that extra. Otherwise  we  will be  looking  at   existing  homes  to  purchase. 

Last  night  just  for  fun  the  two of us   did actually  take  a look  at  a  few existing  home  through  our  realtor   friend  Mike. They  were  nice  but  did not  fully  meet  our  needs.  Afterwards  we  had a  little  date  night  at  a  local  bar  restaurant  called the crooked  pint . It  was   nice  to  get  couple  time,  the  joys  of  having  a  teenage  babysitter! 

Today  we  will tackle  some  more  house  projects !

Dress of the week May 8th(+3 days!)

Hello Ladies ! I started this on Saturday and finishing it today , my apologies! we are already a week into May , I cant believe it! We are waking up to a beautiful Saturday morning . The weather has been pretty nice up to now apart from a wet day on Tuesday.

Last  Saturday  morning  we  all woke up early and  made the  2  hour  trip to my in-laws   new rv  park.  They  made  a long  term  lease on a  plot that  has  a   deck that you  pull your  rv  up to . They  also  have  lake access  for  their  boat , so  we  will be  spending  time  there  I am  sure over  the  next  few  years.   Then  we  went  back to their  house  which is   30 minutes  away  for  a  family  get  together. We  had a   nice  lunch and  it  was  good  to  see  my brother-in-law  and   his  family  again. We   were  hoping  to  see my other  brother-in -law  and  his wife  and  new  baby  but  they  did not  make  the   trip  so I am  hoping  to  meet  the  little  guy soon!!! 

On  the   Sunday  our  8 yr  old  celebrated  his   first  holy  communion !  It  was  a   beautiful Mass    where   he  and  11 others  took  part  in the  sacrament . The   boys  looked   handsome  and  the  girls  were  so  pretty in their  white  dresses  and  gowns!   Afterwards we   went  and  had  a  nice  lunch  at  a  local  restaurant. 

The   rest  of  the  week  went  by  pretty  typical,  with  softball  and   Baseball  in the  evenings  after school.

Dress of the week May 1st!

Good morning Ladies and welcome to the first day of May!! It is the feast day of St. Joseph the worker. I am hoping for a really spring like and sunny May after a pretty wet April which was great for the growth of all the pretty flowers ! Last weekend we even had snow flurries !

Last  Saturday   our  daughter  had   volleyball   again  I did  not  go  with  her   this   time ,   again . They   left  at  7am  and  were  gone  nearly 12  hours. They  played   6  games   and   placed   2nd in the   tournament!  They  went  out  to  eat on  the   way  home   a s  a   special  treat!   I  went   with our  son  to  first  holy communion  rehearsal  in  the   morning.  He  will  receive  the   sacrament   tomorrow .  It will  be   so  nice   watching  all the   boys  in their   suits  and  the   girls  in their  white   communion  dresses!!   Later   on  Saturday  the boys   played  with  their   friends  Easton   and  Amelia. Their  parents  came  over   for  a   bonfire   after  dark as  they  were   picking  the   kids  up.  We  had a   little  adult  playdate  too, why  not!!  

On Sunday we went to Church for the first time in person since covid came in. It was nice to get back after all this time. All the distancing protocols were adhered to and there were no issues. Soon after church we went on a 90 minute drive to see the kids Great Grandpa at a local restaurant to him. It was the first time he was able to get out of his assisted living house also since covid. The last time we got to see him was October for his wife’s funeral. My Father-in-law and his sister had been able to see him though. We are looking forward to seeing him more !!

On Monday our  8year old  woke up at  4am really distressed , having  a  barky  cough  and  throwing up a  little . I  took  him to the  ER immediately . On the  way  there  he  started to feel a  bit  better.  They diagnosed  him  with croup  and  gave  him  a steroid  injection to fight it.  He  was  better later in the  day . 

 On Tuesday  Baseball  and   softball   was   cancelled  due to  rain .  Wednesday  was a   much  better  day.  I  was   able  to  get  my covid   shot , it  went   smooth  and  no   side   effects!   Thursday  there   was    softball  and   baseball . Our  son played in  his   first   scrimmage  and  got  2    hits!

congratulations  to my  brother-in-law  and   his   wife on the   birth of  their   first   child  , a  healthy baby boy born last  Saturday night   called  Stanley!! We  are   excited to meet   him  and  are likely  to do  so   at  a family  get  together today! They are  75% certain they  will  be able to attend it!!  But  with a  newborn there  will not  be   any pressure on them . 

Also  a  shoutout to my  blogging  friend  Steph and Dan who are  expecting  twins in November!!
