Trip to Kansas City part 2!

Hello  all , we  went  to  Kansas  City  from  March 22nd  through  March  26th during  the  kids  Spring  break .  I  incorporated  part 1 into my  dress  of  the  week post  here

We  stayed  at  the  beautiful  Homewood  suites  by  Hilton  close  to  the  Kansas   speedway. It  is  in  the  area  called  Village  west.

We  found  an  authentic Kansas city  Restaurant  the first  evening  called  Q39  in  Overland  Park.  It  did  not  dissapoint  !  The  kids  went  swimming  in  the  hotel  pool after  returning  from  eating. On the  morning of  Sunday  March  24th  I  found  a  local  church  to  attend . Then  after  eating  we  went  to  Chicken  n pickle  in  North  Kansas  City  where  we  played whiffleball  which  is  similar  to  tennis. We  did  our  best  but will  need  to  take  lessons!   In  the  afternoon  we  went to  union  station

It  is  a  beautiful old  building , Look  at  the  ceiling!   Inside  is science  city a fun  place  for  kids  of  all  ages!

We  didn’t  participate in  the  life  sized  chess  or  checkers!  We  arrived  back  in  the  evening  to  Village  west  and went  to  a local  restaurant. Then  we  took a stroll  around legends outlet

It was  more  window  shopping  than  shopping  but  it  was  still  nice!

The  pool  got  used  again  that  night  before  bed  and  we  were  all  tired and  ready  for  sleep!

On  Monday  the  25th  March  after  breakfast   (  the  hotel  lays  on a  fabulous  Breakfast!)   we  went  to  the money museum   of  the  federal  reserve  bank of  Kansas  City. this  was  a  fun visit and  entry is  free.

The  money  wall  which  is  about  5  feet  tall is  $40 million  dollars long  I  captured  $20  million  worth. When  we  were  leaving  we each   got  to  take  a  shredded  bag of  money  worth  about  $165! That  is  it  for  part  2 . I  will conclude  with  part  3 soon, Terri xo.

Dress of the week May 25th

Good  morning  Ladies !!  If   you  are  in  the  USA  or  the  UK  I  hope  you  are  enjoying  a  long  weekend of  relaxation  and  fun. It  is  the  unofficial  start  of  Summer and  the  temps  are  staying  cool  here. We  had  a  lot  of  rain  during  the  week  which  was  good  for  growth. The  flowers  are  starting  to  bloom  nicely.  Today  is  going  to  reach  71f or  21c  with  sun .   Last  night  we  had  a fire in  our  new  backyard  pit  and  roasted  marshmallows . The  kids love  it!  We  are  planning  to  go  to   the  zoo as  the  kids  love  animals.  We  don’t  have  any  other  definite  plans, maybe  we  will  invite  friends over   and  hangout.  We  have  a weekend  free of  softball. Then it  starts  off  on  Monday  again  with  practice  and  midweek  games  before  a  tournament  thru  next  weekend.

My  Uncle Owen  passed  away on  Monday  last  . He  had  gone  through  a  lot  of  health  issues  during  the  past  5  years . His  family  were  sad  but happy  he  was  free  from  suffering.  I  didn’t make  it  to  the  funeral which  is  one  of  the  issues  you  have  when  moving  to  a  different  country.  May  he  rest  in  the  peace  of  God’s  love  and  Mercy, amen.

Dress of the week May 18th

Good  morning  Ladies   and  welcome  to  a  wet  and  thundery  Minnesota! We are due  to  have   3 or  4  days  of  rain  coming up which  will  be  good  for  growth.  Our  daughters  softball  tournament  was  cancelled  this   weekend  due  to the  weather. It  will be  a  time  to  spend  indoors  I  think!!

Last  weekend  we  celebrated  Mothers  day  with  Church  first  and  a  relaxing  day  with the  kids and  some  little  gifts. They  bought  some  trays  of  pretty  planting  flowers that  still  have  to  be  planted, oops  !  Then  we  went  to  a restaurant  that  was  on  the  bucket  list  for  a while that we  have  wanted  to  visit  since  before  the  kids  were  born!  It  did  not  dissapoint and  had  a  nice  selection for  all  taste  buds!  I  hope  you  had  a nice  day   if  you  celebrated  last  Sunday  also.

Dress of the week May 11th

Good  morning  ladies ,  how  is  your  weekend  going. I  want  to  start  off  by  wishing  all the  Moms who  follow  me  in  the  United  States  and  Canada a  happy  Mothers  day ! I  know  it  is  different  in  the  U.K.  and  Ireland ( It  is  the  4th  Sunday  of  Lent a  tradition going  way  back  celebrating  Mary  the  mother  of  Jesus)  So  my  Mom  has  already  celebrated hers!   All you Mom’s  deserve  a  little  pampering  tomorrow.

Last  weekend  was  taken  up  with  softball  and  a  tournament  20   miles  away  on  Saturday  and  Sunday.  Our  Daughters  team   had  mixed  results  but  did  enough  to  qualify  for  nationals coming  up. It  is  20  miles  away  in a  different  direction  so  no  hotel  stays,  last  year  the  12u  was  in  south  Dakota! The  Monday thru  Friday   was  pretty  routine . On  Thursday  our neighbor  gave  the  two  older  boys  a  ride  in  his yellow  convertible  car!  It  actually  is  his  Mom’s  car  that  he  borrowed,  he  listed  his  own  car  for  sale and  it  sold  in  hours  so  he  was  without for  a  few  days , and  the  boys  were so  happy  to  go in  a sports  car! Today  is  curbside  clean  up  day where  the  city   picks  up unwanted  household  or  garage  items  once  a  year. We  start  putting  stuff  out  on  Thursday  for  Saturday collection    and  then  the  people looking  for  scrap  or  just a  good  find  circle  around  the  neighborhoods in  trucks and  sometimes  trailers attached   looking  for  a piece  of  treasure.  You  know  what  they  say  One  persons  trash  is   another’s treasure!

Dress of the week May 4th

Good  morning  Ladies  and  welcome  to  May! I  am  so  excited  ,  the  flowers  will  be  starting  to bloom  soon,  right  now  the  stems  are  at  3 inches .  May started  off   with  my  Sisters  wedding  anniversary  on  May  1st (10  years)  and  her  Birthday  on  May 2nd!  What a  great  start  to  May  for  her  and  also  it  is  a  holiday on Monday in  Ireland!

We  had  a  nice  quiet  weekend  gone  by  ,  we  got  outdoors which  is  good. It  has  taken  longer  than  I  wanted  for  Spring  to  get  here.  I  got  some  sad  news during the  week,  the  Priest (pastor )  that  baptized me  all  those  years  ago  and  also officiated  as  the  celebrant  at  our  wedding  15  years  ago  passed  away. He  was  a lovely  man and  so positive always. May  he  rest  in  the  peace  of  God’s  love.

Today  we  have  softball for  our  daughter , there  are  games  at  11am ,  3pm  and  6pm!  It  is  only  20  miles  away which  is  good.
