Dress of the week March 30th (And trip to KC part 1!)

Good  morning  ladies!

last   week  there  was  a  first   for  my  blog in   nearly  3  years posting,  there  was  no  post  for March  23rd  created!! (I  do  apologize)  The  kids  started  Spring  break  on  Friday  the  22nd and  for  it  we  planned  a  getaway. We  went  to  Kansas  city.( It was  inspired  by Courtney from A Byers guide)  We  left  after  all the  packing  was  done on  Friday  evening  at  5:30  and  drove for  3  hours  to  Des Moines , Iowa (there were  food  and  bathroom  breaks  along  the  way )  we  arrived  at  the  hotel  we  booked  for  the  night  at  9:20   and  got  settled in .  The  next  morning  the  kids went  swimming  in  the  pool and  had great  fun  as  always. They  are  little  fish!   We   checked  out  at  11:00  and  had  lunch  at  Bennigan’s  Irish  style  Restaurant.  We  stopped  at  dunkin  donuts for some  coffee  and took  interstate 35  south . It  was  a  pretty  drive  with  rolling  hills  and  nature  at  its  best. Another  thing  was  that  there  was  no snow  south  of  Des Moines , it  was  a novelty for  us! It  is  a  3  hour  drive  also from Des  Moines  to Kansas  City   and  with  stops  we  arrived  at  our  hotel  at  about  5pm. We  stayed  at  homewood suites  by  Hilton  next  to  the  Kansas City  Speedway.  This  is  on  the  west suburbs  of  the  city.

I  will  do  a  part  2  post  on  our  trip  later.

The  kids  are  back  to  school  on  Monday  and  before  we  know  it  it  will  be  summer!   We  are  planning  a  low  key  weekend .

Dress of the week March 17th

Good  morning  Ladies!! Happy  ST. Patrick’s day  to  you (Beannachtaí na lá Féile Pádraig oraibh!) This  is  the  Gaelic  greeting! It  is  pronounced  Bann-ock-tee na  law fail-eh  paw-rig or-iv!   There  is  my  lesson  for  the  day, hehe. 

We   celebrated  our  Liam’s  6th  birthday yesterday!  It  was   an  early  celebration  ,  his  is not  for  another  week  but  it  worked  better  for  extended  family . He  is  such  an  active  and  outdoorsy  boy  and knows  how  to  get  ,  dirty , or  wet  when  outside!  He  is  his  own  little  character!

We  have  started  getting  rain  here!   the  temps  are  rising  and  its  supposed  to  reach  60f  later  this  week. I  will  stop  short  of  saying  winter  is  over  because it  is  only  6  years since  we  got  a  foot  of  snow May 8th! The  kids  start  a week  of  Spring  break  on  Friday   and we  are  going  on  a  trip for  a  few  days  from  friday until  Tuesday!  More  on  that  next  week !

Dress of the week March 9th

Good  morning  Ladies! I  hope  your  weekend  is  off  to  a  good  start. It  is  wait  and  see  for  us, It  is  7:30  am and  we  are  awaiting  6  to  12  inches  of  snow  between  now  and  tomorrow.  I  am  beginning  to  sound  repetitive   now I  know!   The  joys  of  Minnesota! We   got  above  freezing  yesterday(33f)   for  the  first  time  since  February  4th!

Last Saturday  after  posting  we  all  went  to  a  sledding  hill close  by. There  were  teething  problems  with  the  sleds  at  first because  of  the  types  we  have   but  eventually  were  able  to  get  speed  up. It  was  good  time  together  in  the  outdoors!

On  wednesday  we  celebrated  the  start  of  Lent  with  Ash  wedneday. It  is  a  day  of  fasting  with  no  snacks  between  meals! In  the  evening  we  went  to  church ,  but  had  the  soup  supper   before  hand  where parishoners  bring  a  meatless  soup  to  share.  There  were  28  in  total,  I  did  not  have  time  to  prepare  a  dish myself  this  year.   Fridays  in  Lent  are  also  a  fasting  day.

This  weekend  is  low  key  , I  think!  I  am  ok  with  that   and  can  get  stuff  done  in  the  house ,  also  family  fun  time   with  some  games .

Dress of the week March 2nd

Good  morning  Ladies ! We  are   finally  into March ,  the  month  when  Spring  starts   here  in  The  United  States  but  here  where  I  live we  are  still  in  the  depths  of  Winter .We  had  another  3  inches  of  snow  last  night  .  We  ended  up  with  a  record  February   snowfall  of  39  inches !   I  am  ready  to  be  done  and start    seeing  signs  of  Spring      but  I will  have  to  be  Patient!

Last  night  was   family  fun  night  at  the  kids  school  where  they  get  to  play  games   ,  do  face  painting  and  just  have  fun!  It  is  also a  time  for the  parents  to  socialize  and  meet  in  some  cases.   I  had   a  bereavement in  my  family last  weekend.  A   second cousin of  mine  ,   from  My Dad’s  generation  passed  away  after suffering  a  stroke  a  few  years  ago.  He  was  the  nicest  man  you  could  ever  meet  and  so  generous. May  he  rest  in  the  peace  of  God.

This  week  we  start  Lent  in  our  church ,  where we   are  encouraged  to   fast and make  sacrafices  in  solidarity  with  Jesus  Christ   when  he  spent  40  days  and  40  nights  in  the  desert   fasting.
